Runway is both a generative video model family (the Gen series) and a browser-based suite of AI editing tools. On the generation side it turns text prompts, images or reference footage into short clips that hold together better than most competitors for cinematic B-roll and stylised inserts. On the editing side it offers inpainting (remove objects from video), green-screen-style background removal, motion tracking and frame interpolation — tools that used to require desktop VFX software.
